Welcome to our site! The unofficial, fan-led hub for the upcoming title Legend of Zelda : Wind Waker HD!
This fantastically exciting new title was announced on the 23rd of January 2013 at the Nintendo Direct Conference by Nintendo director Satoru Iwata. The announcement comes as part of a larger piece of news from Nintendo; that there will also be a new Zelda game for the Wii U as well as Wind Waker HD! What more could we Link fans want?
Ever since 2003 Zelda fans around the world have been in love with the original Wind Waker game for Nintendo Gamecube. The game was a runaway success, averaging a 96% score amongst critics and selling almost 5 million copies worldwide. Initially the art style split fans, but the free roaming gameplay and overall charm of the title snatched the hearts of those fans back immediately.
Now, 10 years on, Nintendo has rewarded their faithful fans with a beautiful HD remake of the already timeless classic.
At the Nintendo Direct Conference fans were informed that the new game would make the most of the Wii U’s new hardware. Promises were made that the game would make use of the Wii U gamepad, motion controls and renovated HD graphics and sound.
Wind Waker HD at E3 2013
It was announced at E3 2013 that Wind Waker HD would be released in October 2013. Some of the new features that were announced are listed below:
- Improved graphics
- Sailing can be made 50% faster
- Improved Triforce Quest
- MiiVerse integration
The Triforce quest and the sailing are regarded as some of the weakest points in the original Wind Waker, there fans are very happy that the developers have taken the time to improve the game.
The feature we believe to be the most exciting however is the integration of the Wii U’s MiiVerse into the game. In Wind Waker HD players will be able to send each other messages in a bottle which will then wash up on each other’s shores. We believe that this could add a fresh element to the game which could result in a whole new layer of depth and fun if executed properly.
Below we have two videos featuring gameplay analysis from IGN and Wind Waker HD in action in a demo from E3:
